What is TRE?
TRE stands for tension and trauma release exercises.
TRE is a series of 7 simple exercises that activate the bodies natural tremoring mechanism. The tremors calm the nervous system and allow the body to release long held patterns of tension, stress and trauma.
Mammals will involuntarily shake after a stressful event to release the protective and defensive patterns of fight, flight and freeze. Although mammalian, the human brain tends to suppress this instinct as the mind has been conditioned to view shaking as a sign of weakness. TRE reconnects us with this innate natural bodily reflex.
This video gives a good explanation of TRE.

What a TRE session looks like
Sessions flow through 4 parts and usually last 60-90 minutes
Grounding
A simple practice to come into connection with the body and the present. Feeling and listening to the bodies sensations is the backbone of TRE.
Exercises
We move through 7 exercises that gently fatigue and stretch the muscles of the lower body. These may be adapted for different needs.
Tremors
The exercises naturally evoke the tremors and we spend 15-20 minutes allow the tremors to move through the body.
Integration
Like a shavasana, we allow the body to be still and process how it is feeling.
