What is TRE

TRE is a series of 7 simple exercises that activate the bodies natural tremoring mechanism.  The tremors calm the nervous system and allow the body to release long held patterns of tension, stress and trauma.

Mammals will involuntarily shake after a stressful event to release the protective and defensive patterns of fight, flight and freeze.  Although mammalian, the human brain tends to suppress this instinct as the mind has been conditioned to view shaking as a sign of weakness.  TRE reconnects us with this innate natural bodily reflex.​

TRE was designed by Dr David Berceli.  He has worked with people across the world in war zones and places affected by natural disaster in the area of stress reduction, trauma intervention and recovery training.  Read more about TRE & David Berceli.

Allowing natural neurological tremors to pulsate through the body regulates and calms the central nervous system.  This restores functions of the body that shut down or alter when we are in fight flight or freeze.  In stress, the release of hormones causes our muscles to tighten, more energy is made available to fight or flee, the digestive and immune systems shuts down and our focus become narrowed and fixed.  If stress becomes too much, too long or too often mental and physical bodily functions can become dis-regulated.  The tremors create a feedback loop between the body and central nervous system signalling the restoration of functions essential to rest, digest, grow and connect.
